Beijing star-rated hotels' average occupancy rate improves

In the five days since the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games, star-rated hotels in Beijing have seen a steady rise in their occupancy rate and tourist attractions have received more visitors.

The statistics were offered by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, the National Bureau of Statistics of China, and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism.

On August 12, star-rated hotels registered 78,000 hotel guests, 39,000 domestic and 39,000 international. Compared with August 8, the total number of guests increased by 4,000.

Occupancy rates of star-rated hotels have also increased. On August 12, occupancy rates of five-star hotels reached 80.3 percent, a rise of 0.3 percentage points compared with August 8. Two-star hotels and below saw their occupancy rates increase 30-40 percent, with an increase of 2-4 percentage points over that of August 8. The average price for standard rooms was 2,691 yuan on August 12, showing an 8.6 percent drop from that of August 8.

Tourist attractions have also received an increased number of guests. The total number of tourists reached 358,000 on August 12, an increase of 1.6 percent from August 8. This number includes 27,000 international guests, an increase of 6,000 compared to August 8.
