Resound Summer School 2008

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is holding it’s first ever Summer School this August at St Paul’s School in South West London.

Taking place over three days from 21 - 23 August, young people aged 14 - 18 will, with the assistance of world-class musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, create their own pieces in addition to working on exciting material from the orchestral repertoire. They will be able to showcase their achievements to friends and family in a performance on the last day. New friendships will be forged, musical discoveries made and insights given into the life of a professional musician.

Participants at previous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra workshop series:

‘I meant every word when I said that this has been one of the most worthwhile educational projects we have ever taken part in, and it has been a real privilege.’ (Katharine, Leader of Youth Band)

‘The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Players were all very friendly and helpful and great to work with. The fact that I have played with them will definitely go on my CV!’ (John, aged 15)

RPO resound, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s community and education department, envisages that this course will be very popular and sell out fast. Aimed at teenagers aged 14 – 18 who are Grade 4 and above on any orchestral instrument, this course represents an experience not to be missed. There will be no auditions and the course is operated on a first-come first-served basis. -- www.rpo.co.uk
