NYSE Group Issues Short Interest Report

Based on information received from members and member organizations, short interest decreased to 18,337,367,226 shares from 18,610,207,233 shares on July 15, 2008.

The short interest on July 31 was equal to 4.8 percent of the total shares outstanding. The short interest in warrants as of July 31 amounted to 311,613 warrants, compared to 505,375 warrants the previous period.

As of the settlement date, there were 3,693 stocks and 12 warrants available for trading. Of these, 3,217 issues had either a short position of at least 5,000 shares or a change of 2,000 shares since the last monthly report.
