You will have a tough time trying to find another iPhone accessory that is only $19.95. Actually the Apple USB iPhone cable itself is $19.
Some people have mentioned that the PowerJolt doesn’t give you the same kind of charge as if you were to plug your iPhone into the wall. I haven’t had any problems with the PowerJolt but I did have problems with Moto car chargers in the past. Some people have even said that the PowerJolt doesn’t give them any charge and as it is just plugged in and shows that it is charging but it doesn’t do anything. I have not noticed this at all.
I use this once in a while when I’m out and the battery is almost dead. This can happen often as the battery only lasts about a day anyway on the 3G. I probably wouldn’t want to leave it plugged into the car for hours, I just do quick emergency charges with it. I have heard stories where 3rd party accessories can burn out the battery on your iPhone and overheat it.
I haven’t heard this happening with Griffin products, Griffin seems like a respectable company. I wouldn’t use the $3 knock off iPhone accessories that you can find on eBay to charge your iPhone.
Verdict - Good accessory, worth the 20 bucks.
