
The Akron Symphony Chorus will hold auditions for the 2008-2009 season on Saturday, September 6th. The auditions will be by appointment only.
Candidates should be prepared to sing a vocal selection of their choosing and to demonstrate their sight-reading ability, tonal memory (with special attention to pitch) and vocal range. The auditions will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 263 E. Mill Street (on the corner of Mill and Union Streets).
College credit is available for chorus members through The University of Akron. The chorus rehearses Tuesday evenings from 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at First United Methodist. The first rehearsal will be September 9th.
Those interested in auditioning must schedule an appointment by calling the Akron Symphony office at (330) 535-8131 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please ask for Brenda Justice.
The Akron Symphony Chorus has been an integral part of the Greater Akron Musical Association since its first performance in 1957. The chorus is scheduled to perform with the Akron Symphony Orchestra several times throughout the 2008-2009 season, including performances of Vaughn Williams’ Dona nobis pacem and Brahms Requiem. Chorus Director, Dr. Hugh Floyd, will lead the chorus in their annual concert on November 2nd at St. Bernard Catholic Church. -- www.akronsymphony.org
