Following up on the SOLD OUT Portage Lakes Tour in July, the Akron Symphony Guild will present CRESCENDO 2008, its annual luncheon and style show, on Saturday, September 6th at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls. The event will begin with cocktails at 11:30 a.m., including a special “CRESCENDO-tini.”
Lunch will be served and the fashion show will begin at 12:00 p.m. The fashions featured will be presented by Macy’s of Summit Mall with hats by Paula Singleton (Blue Bridge Studio) and handbags by Cindy Stone (Cindy Bags).
Models and fashions featured in the show will range from teens to grandmothers, focusing on casual, business, and formal dress. CRESCENDO models include volunteers from a variety of local organizations, including the Akron Symphony, Youth Symphony, Torchbearers, ArtCetera, and more.
A “hidden treasure” raffle is planned where guests will have the opportunity to purchase small wooden treasure chests for $10.00 each. All will contain a prize, but a few lucky winners will open their chests to find valuable jewelry, overnight packages, and other exciting prizes.
This year’s show will differ from previous years with a selection of furs being presented by Vollbracht Furs of Summit Mall. A troupe of Symphony “Chippendales,” comprised of volunteers from University of Akron fraternities, will serve as escorts for models and guests.
In another first, those who purchase tickets at the Patron level ($70.00) will be treated to a special tour of the School of Fashion Design and Merchandising at Kent State University personally led by Dr. Elizabeth A. Rhodes. This exclusive V.I.P. tour is scheduled for September 10th at 11:00 a.m. and will offer light refreshments.
Tickets for CRESCENDO 2008 are available for $45.00 and at the Patron level for $70.00. -- www.akronsymphony.org
