'Nomads' Home School Class Offered For Ages 7-11

The Florida Museum of Natural History is offering a home school class "Nomads: Life on the Go" for ages 7-11 starting Jan. 29. Participants will learn how nomadic people traveled in order to adapt to their surroundings, what kind of technology nomads employed, and how they moved their homes and all of their belongings.

Pre-registration for the four-day home school session is required. The cost is $64 for Florida Museum members and $76 for non-members and includes admission into the Tibet exhibit. Classes run from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12 and Feb. 19. For more information call (352) 846-2000, ext. 248.
This class complements the Florida Museum's temporary exhibit "Tibet: Mountains and Valleys, Castles and Tents," on display Feb. 3 - May 28.

The exhibit showcases historical and archival treasures of Tibetan culture from The Newark Museum's renowned collection, considered the finest in the Western Hemisphere. The exhibit includes rare photographs along with authentic objects including examples of official regalia, noble jewelry, castle furnishings, horse gear and weapons. -- www.flmnh.ufl.edu
