Delaware Art Museum Presents Fever Pitch

The Delaware Art Museum presents Fever Pitch: New Work from The Center For Emerging Visual Artists, an exhibition of cutting-edge art by up-and-coming artists active in the region, on view from January 27 through March 4, 2007, in Gallery 10. Over two-dozen artists, all of whom are current or former fellows of Philadelphia's Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA), will display their most recent work, including paintings, photography, sculpture, assemblages, and site-specific installations.

"It's such a pleasure working with these talented young artists," said Associate Curator Heather Campbell Coyle. "I'm energized by their creativity and enthusiasm for what they're making. For me, the most fascinating part of the project has been watching the artists' work evolve over the past year since we began planning the show. The work is fresh and vital and the range of artistic approaches is amazing."
Fever Pitch promises to be fun, edgy, and different. The works range from documentary photographs of abandoned row homes to delicate paintings inspired by Chinese and Greek mythology to installations that address the passage of time. The artists employ unexpected media, such as sand and packing tape, as well as more traditional means like egg tempera and acrylic paint.

Meet the Artists

On Saturday, January 27, 2007, the artists featured in Fever Pitch will visit the Museum from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to celebrate the exhibition's opening. They will be present in Gallery 10 for informal conversations about their works and their creative processes. Young artists considering careers in the visual arts are particularly encouraged to come and learn more about advancing in this field. Participation in this event is included with Museum admission, which is free to all college students with valid I.D. on this day.

Press Preview

Members of the press are invited to the Delaware Art Museum for a preview of Fever Pitch: New Work from The Center For Emerging Visual Artists on Thursday, January 25, at 10:00 a.m. Please RSVP by Monday, January 22.

About CFEVA

Founded in 1984, CFEVA (formerly Creative Artists Network) is a nonprofit organization that supports artists who have completed art school but are not yet represented by dealers. CFEVA gives emerging artists opportunities to produce and exhibit work and to network with dealers and collectors. Each year CFEVA accepts 12 fellows for two-year terms. This exhibition will feature works by fellows currently working with CFEVA, as well as a handful of works by the Center's alumni. -- www.delart.org
