The Mayor of the City of Casey (Cr Geoff Ablett) is seeking expressions of interest from all types of entertainers, varying talents and ages to apply and audition for Casey Idol.The auditions have been held over the 31 July, 1 August and will run again on the 3 August 2009. The winning acts will perform at the Casey Idol final on Saturday 29 August.
A first prize valued at $350 will be issued to the winner along with a full-day of recording and song production at Audio Visual Media in Cranbourne and three copies of the recording on CD with full-colour on-disc printing. A voucher from Audio Visual Media valued at $50 will go to all the finalists to aid their future recording and production. Each year, the talent that comes from this event continues to reach new greater standards. There is much excitement and anticipation around what the acts from this year’s performers will produce.
There are three main categories that individuals or groups can audition for, including: Primary School Age, Secondary School Age and Open. There is a fee for entrants of $10 per act and audience members are encouraged to give a gold coin donation. Auditions have be held on Friday 31 July, 6–9 pm, Saturday 1 and there will be another two on August 2–6 pm and Monday 3 August 6–9 pm. These auditions will be held at the City of Casey’s Civic Centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
Spaces are limited and performers have been encouraged to book an audition time early by contacting the Mayor’s Secretary who so that the required audition forms can be sent out. As mentioned the Casey Idol final will be held on Saturday 29 August 2009 at 7.00 pm at the Arthur Wren Hall, Stuart Avenue, Hampton Park and entry is $10 per person. It is possible to obtain tickets at the door.
