Singapore Symphony Presents Slavic Expressions

Bring the entire family for an intimate experience with instrumental music with musicians from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at the Victoria Concert Hall on a Sunday evening. Opening the VCH Chamber Series on February 4, 2007 (Sunday), 5pm is an entirely Bohemian programme, "Slavic Expressions".

The Czech composer Dvorak composed four piano trios, and the very last, the "Dumky" Trio, has remained most popular. Perfectly proportioned, emotionally intense, and full of incredible tunes, it grabs you from the first note and never lets you go. This will be performed by the Feng Trio, made up of violinist Duan Yuling, cellist Wang Yan and pianist Liu Jia.

Also look out for two works by Janacek: the Capriccio for piano and six instruments, and the wind sextet Mladi. Written during his 70th birthday celebrations, Mladi evokes the rapidly shifting emotions of the composer's youth with nostalgia.

Ticket prices are (before booking fees: $1 for tickets $20 and below) $10. Show your ticket at Victoria Café between 4-5pm to enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea and a slice of cake.
