Hrant Dink did not have time to leave Turkey

"I'm not a racist. I simply use the word "Genocide" which is a reality. I want my identity of an Armenian to be respected", announced Turkish-Armenian writer and journalist Hrant Dink in a press conference in Yerevan.

He had applied to the European Court of Human Rights in order restore his rights. In case the Court did not answer the letter of the editor of newspaper «Agos», he was going to leave Turkey. Alas, he did not have time for that.

Let us remind you that the Turkish authorities accused Dink of "insulting Turkishness". He denied it. «If they consider me an enemy, I cannot live in that country», said Dink on September 19, 2006, in Yerevan.

About a year ago Dink announced in the Armenian community that all the Armenians speak about the 1915 Genocide whereas the Armenians of Turkey do not even dare to pay tribute to the victims of April 24.

Hrant Dink thought that there are only two cases when Turkey can recognize the Armenian Genocide: either under the pressure of the international community or by the demand of its own people. A1plus
