Silly Symphony Family Concert

Introduce your child to the joys of music through the family friendly concert series presented by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. The "Silly Symphony" concert will teach children about the instruments of the orchestra in a fun and exciting way that's sure to make them laugh as they learn. An instrument petting zoo, where children can learn about and play different instruments, will open 45 minutes before the concert begins.

The performance takes place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Cliburn Recital Hall, 330 E. Fourth Street, one block east of Bass Performance Hall. Tickets go on sale Monday, Jan. 15, and are just $10 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under.

To order, call 817-665-6000 or visit the Ticket Office at 330 E. Fourth Street, Suite 200. (No website orders.) The petting zoo will open at 10:15 a.m. Family Concerts are made possible through a generous grant from American Express.

Works featured in the Silly Symphony concert include selections from works such as Bizet's Jeux d'enfants, Anderson's Plink, Plank, Plunk!, Schickele's Fanfare for the Common Cold and the Unbegun Symphony, and Schreiner's Worried Drummer, which has the Orchestra's two percussionists racing around as they try to play the song. The concert will also include educational highlights about the pieces. -- www.fwsymphony.org
