Fort Worth Symphony Receives $2 Million Donation

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Association announced today that it has received a $2 million donation to endow the Concertmaster's Chair from Mr. and Mrs. Sid R. Bass. This generous contribution will expand the endowment fund to nearly $27 million.

"This remarkably generous gift demonstrates once again Mercedes and Sid Bass' philanthropic leadership and passionate devotion to the FWSO," said Ann Koonsman, president of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Association. "It also gives us the inspiration and momentum we need to complete our $30 million endowment campaign. We could not be more grateful."

Established in 1984 with a founding gift from Mr. and Mrs. William S. Davis, the endowment fund provides the institutional bedrock upon which the Orchestra is able to achieve long-term artistic growth and financial stability. Concertmaster Michael Shih has custody of the Davis' 1710 Antonio Stradivari violin, generously on loan to the FWSO.

Under the leadership of Chairman Mercedes T. Bass and Co-chairmen Kit Moncrief and Ann Koonsman, the goal of the current endowment campaign is $30 million. -- www.fwsymphony.org
