National Theatre Open The Season At Everyman

A servant-girl sacrifices her own safety and the love of her sweetheart to protect a child abandoned in the heat of civil war. Order restored, she is made to confront the boy's biological mother in a legal contest over who deserves to keep him. The comical judge calls on an ancient tradition - the chalk circle - to resolve the dispute. Who wins?

National Theatre Open The Season At Everyman

Last seen at the Everyman in 2005 with their sell-out production of Brian Friel's Translations, also directed by Sean Holmes, the National Theatre have this time joined forces with Filter - a theatre collective renowned for their unique fusion of music, movement and video imagery.

Sean Holmes' other directorial credits include The Mentalists for the National Theatre and Julius Caesar, A New Way To Please You, Richard III and The Roman Actor for the RSC. The production is designed by Anthony Lamble who worked on Translations and Sing Your Heart Out For The Lads for the National Theatre and features original video design by Lorna Heavey and sound design by Chris Branch, Tom Haines and Tim Phillips.

Cast includes Thusitha Jayasundera (HolbyCity, The Bill), Oliver Dimsdale (Pravda, Birmingham Rep) and Nicolas Tennant, who was last seen in Liverpool as the lead role in Dr Faustus at the Playhouse in February 2005. -- www.everymanplayhouse.com
