Oregon LeGarrette Blount Punches Player After Game

The college football season opened up Thursday night for Oregon and Boise State with a handshake out on the field. After the end of the game, that symbolic gesture is only a vague memory. Oregon's LeGarrette Blount punched Boise State's Byron Hout after the game.

As the two teams were mangled on the field after the game for the customary after the game handshakes and congratulations, Hout approached Blount and said something to him. When Hout was not looking, Blount nailed Hout with a punch to his jaw.

The sucker punch that Blount delivered to Hout's jaw was just the start of a rampage that continued for minutes. After Blount punched Hout, he proceeded to swing at a teammate that was trying to calm him down and get him away from the situation. Unlike Hout, Blount's teammate still had his helmet on.

Blount then tried to go into the stands after some of the Boise State fans. It took police officers, security officers, some of Blount's teammates and officials of the Oregon football team to drag him off the field and out of the stadium.

Blount is known for jumping over the defense of Oklahoma State to win the Holiday Bowl last December for Oregon. That might be a fading fond memory now. Thursday night's rampage is not the first time Blount has been in trouble this year. Earlier in the year, Blount was suspended from the team for an academic issue and missed spring practice.

Now he could be facing another suspension and possibly the end of his college career due to his actions after the game. No charges have been filed, but Blount could face criminal charges if a criminal complaint is filed against him.

Leading up to the game against Boise State, Blount had trashed talked all week. Unfortunately for Oregon, their only offense Thursday night was the offensive punch by Blount after the game. Boise State held Oregon's offense to only 150 total yards.

Blount was held to a -5 (yes a minus 5) yards for the whole game. He only had 8 carriers and gave up a safety when he was tackled in the end zone in the second quarter. This definitely was not LeGarrette Blount's night. Now he and everyone else are waiting to see if he will ever play football again for Oregon.

Blount punching an opponent and his rampage afterwards will be one of the unfortunate highlights of this college football season. You can see the video of his rampage after the game here.
