US Open Tennis 2009 Results for Day Eight

In Monday's women's singles of the US Open tennis 2009 matches were a mixture of fast and quick victory and hard fought victories. Kateryna Bondarenko defeated Gislea Dulko 6-0, 6-0, in a blazing quick match. Bondarenko took only 47 minutes in her victory on Monday. Bondarenko's victory on Monday was a little revenge since Dulko beat Bondarenko's sister, Alona in the 2nd round of the tournament.

The women's singles Cinderella story of the US Open tennis 2009 continued on after Monday's match between Melanie Oudin and Nadia Petrova. Oudin is a 17 year old from Georgia and is this year's Cinderella story for the women at the US Open.

On Monday, Oudin overcame committing 32 unforced errors and defeated Petrova three sets: 1-6, 7-6(2), 6-3. Petrova committed 59 unforced errors of her own.

Oudin will battle a fellow teen in the quarterfinals when she meets up with 19 year old Caroline Wozniacki who defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova: 2-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3). In a hard fought battle, Wozniacki came back from a slow start in the match to win her opportunity to play in the 2009 US Open quarterfinals.

In the other women's singles play on Monday in the US Open tennis 2009 results with a win for Yanina Wickmayer over Petra Kvitova. Wickmayer came back from loosing the first set to win the match in three sets: 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

The men's singles play on Monday of the US Open tennis 2009 results with the number one seed advances as was expected. Roger Federer defeated Tommy Robredo fairly easy in three sets: 7-5, 6-2, 6-2. Federer started out slow in the first set, but then took control of the match. Federer took less than two hours to win the match.

Nikolay Davydenko was forced to retire due to a left-thigh injury giving the win to Robin Soberling: 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Up till Davydenko was forced to retire, the match was a hard hitting match with both players playing mostly at the baseline.

In the other Monday's men's single of the US Open tennis 2009 results with Fernando Verdasco defeating John Isner 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 64. Novak Djokovic handled Radek Stepanek in his victory in three sets: 6-1, 6-3, 6-3.

Monday's men's double US Open tennis 2009 results with Kukas Dlouhy and Leander Paes defeating Juilian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer: 7-5, 6-4. Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonijic defeated Robert Kendrick and Janko Tipsarevic: 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. Carsten Ball and Chris Guccione defeated Leos Friedl and Jaroslav Levinsky: 6-2, 6-1. Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles defeated Yen-Hsun Lu and Dudi Sela: 6-4, 6-4.

Women's doubles US Open tennis 2009 results for Monday have Zi Yan and Jie Zheng defeated Daniela Hantuchova and Ai Sugiyama: 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Also Nuria Llagostera Vives and Maria Jose Martinez defeated Vania King and Monica Niculescu: 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

In the mixed doubles quarterfinals on Monday's US Open tennis 2009 results with Liezel Huber and Mahesh Bhupathi defeating Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Nenad Zimonjic: 6-4, 6-3. Cara Black and Leander Paes defeated Rennae Stubbs and Robert Lindstedt: 7-5, 3-6, [10-6]. Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott upset number three seed Lisa Raymond and Marcin Matkowski: 6-2, 7-5. Su-Wei Hsieh and Kevin Ullyett defeated Zi Yan and Mariusz Fyrstenberg: 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4).
