US Open Tennis 2009 Results Cilic Upsets No 2 Murray

Tuesday's fourth round match with Marin Cilic was expected to be just another match for number 2 seed Andy Murray on his way to the finals. Instead when the US Open tennis 2009 results were in for their match Cilic had upset Murray: 7-5, 6-2, 6-2.

The 16th seed Cilic simply outplayed Murray during Tuesday's match. Murray never seemed to have gotten his head into the game.

The match started off slow for both players. Each committed errors. After they reached 5-5 in the first set, Cilic turned on his play and never looked back.

Murray did not show the impressive mannerism or play he had shown through the 2009 US Open tournament so far. He grew increasingly frustrated as the match went on. Murray stammered around the court swinging his racket in frustration and even threw it down once after losing the second set.

Once Cilic was able to overcome his errors his play improved tremendously. He served 10 aces during the match.

The match with Murray will definitely be one that Cilic will remember. It is his first time beating a top-three player and it moves him into the quarterfinals of the 2009 US Open.

Cilic will face Juan Martin Del Potro in the quarterfinals. Like Cilic, Del Potro is also 20 year old and 6-foot-6. Del Potro defeated Juan Carolos Ferrero to reach the quarterfinals. Regardless what the US Open tennis 2009 results of their quarterfinal match is, Cilic has had a tournament to remember.
