US Open Tennis 2009 Results: Serena Williams Headed to Semifinals

Serena Williams is having an incredible season so far. She is also having a pretty incredible US Open as well. With the US Open tennis 2009 results of her quarterfinals' match with Flavia Pennetta; Serena Williams is heading to another semifinal this year.

Williams has already won every Grand Slam women's singles matches she has played this year except for one. The win over Pennetta on Tuesday brought her season Grand Slam total to 23-1.

Seeded number 2 for the 2009 US Open, Williams has breezed verily easily during the tournament. The number 10 seed Pennetta gave Williams her toughest battle of the tournament so far.

Williams and Pennetta battled hard during the first set. Each held their served during the first nine games. The with the score in the first set at 4-5, Pennetta double faulted and then hit three consecutive errors allowing Williams to take the advantage.

Pennetta made an effort to come back at the beginning of the second set, but Williams answered with back-to-back aces and never let up after that. Williams would go on to win 6-4, 6-3.

Next up for Williams is the 2009 US Open comeback story Kim Clijsters. The 2005 US Open champion defeated Na Li in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Clijsters also defeated Williams' sister, Vensus in the fourth round earlier.

If the US Open tennis 2009 results ends up being how Serena Williams would like for them to be she will have won her fourth US Open championship. She would also probably get back the number one ranking. Williams would also have accomplished another pretty impressive feat. It would be her 12th overall Grand Slam championship.
