The 2009 US Open was going just as planned for the number one seed Bryan brothers. Their play made it obvious why they were expected to win another US Open men's double title. That was until the US Open tennis 2009 result of their semifinal match where Mike and Bob Bryan were upset by Lukas Dlouhy and Leander Paes.

The Bryan brothers are no strangers to playing Dlouhy and Paes. Bryan brothers beat them for the US Open men's double title just last year in the final match. The brothers also won the title in 2005. After the semifinal upset on Wednesday, the brothers will have to wait another year to add to their title record.

Going into the semifinal game the Bryan brothers had not lost a set during the 2009 US Open play. Dlouhy and Paes outplayed them and won the first set of the match 6-4. The Bryan brothers shook off their first set loss and battled back to win the second set.

In the third set, Dlouhy and Paes jumped out to an early lead. The defending US Open champions rallied back, but Dlouhy and Paes stayed strong and won the match with a final score of 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(6).

Up until the semifinal match, the Bryan brothers had not faced a seeded team in the 2009 US Open tournament. Dlouhy and Paes are the number 4 seed team and proved to be the better team on Wednesday.

Dlouhy and Paes will play in the final match for the 2009 US Open men's double title against the winner of the other semifinal match between Mahesh Bhupathi/Mark Knowles and Max Mirnyi/Andy Ram.

Dlouhy and Paes are already the reigning French Open men's doubles champions. Paes has won the men's double US Open title in 2006 with then teammate Martin Damm.

Paes is having a great doubles 200 US Open. Along with his mixed doubles teammate Cara Black, he will also be playing for the title in the mixed doubles final. With the upset of the Bryan brothers on Wednesday Paes could now have two championships to take home when the US Open tennis 2009 results are finalized.
