The qualifying energy efficient products that can be purchased tax exempt include refrigerators, dishwashers, room air conditioners, fluorescent light bulbs, washers, doors, windows, ceiling fans, programmable thermostats ad dehumidifiers. The products that qualify for the sales tax holiday must meet the Energy Star program requirements.

Also during the sales tax holiday weekend for appliances, shoppers in Georgia can also purchase eligible water efficient products without paying sales tax. The water efficient products that qualify for the sales tax holiday will carry the WATER SENSE logo. These include items such as high-efficient toilets and urinals, bathroom sink faucets, showerheads, and even certain irrigation controllers.

With the purchase of these new energy efficient products, Georgians will save money on their purchases during the 2009 Georgia sales tax holiday for appliances. They will continue to save money on their water and power bills with these more efficient products over what they were spending with their older ones. Plus the environment will benefit from it as well. It is a win-win weekend.
