The Michigan vs Michigan State football game was a thriller for the fans. MSU ended up the winner in overtime 26-20.

Both teams had more than just bragging rights to play for. Michigan is starting off to one of their best years in a while with a record of 4-0. MSU is trying to get their season going after starting it with a 1-3 record. Each team went into the game wanting to add this game as a win to their record.

Michigan took the early lead with a field goal in the first quarter. Before the quarter was over MSU took the lead 7-3 off of a 1 yard touchdown run by Larry Caper.

In the second quarter, Michigan came back to tighten the score with another Wolverine field goal; 7-6 MSU leading. As in the first quarter the Spartans from MSU would drive the field again and score. This time MSU scored a field goal to end the half and take a 10-6 lead going into half-time.

The only score in the third quarter was by MSU. The Spartans tacked on another field goal to head into the four quarter 13-6.

MSU's Glenn Winston rushed for a 15 yard touchdown at the beginning of the fourth quarter. It appeared with a 20-6 lead that MSU was heading for the win.

Michigan came to live in the fourth quarter behind their true freshman quarterback Tate Forcier. On a 60 yard touchdown pass to Darryl Stonum, Forcier pulled the Wolverines to just trailing by a 7 points.

Another Forcier 9 yard touchdown pass to Roy Roundtree for Michigan tied the game. MSU was not able to score again in the fourth quarter and the game went into overtime.

Michigan started the overtime with the ball first. MSU intercepted a Forcier pass ultimately ending Michigan's chance for a comeback victory. Larry Caper ran 23 yards for his second touchdown of the game giving MSU a 26-20 win over Michigan.

As always this Michigan vs Michigan State game was a nail biter. When the final whistle was blown, the Spartans beat the Wolverines again.
