Yes A New Film Camera - Fuji Instax Mini 7s

By Denise Clay on 2009-10-13

Who says film is dead? Whomever it was forgot to tell Fujifilm as they have just released a new instant film camera to the US. The Fuji Instax Mini 7s camera produces instant pictures without a printer.

In today's digital world, it is hard to find some one still using a film camera. We all love being able to see the image instantly. What can give more of an instant gratification than a digital camera? A camera that produces the print for you; the instant camera.

When Polaroid stop producing instant film recently, it appeared that instant cameras were history. Instead, Fuji has gone retro and introduced a line of instant film cameras.

The Fuji Instax Mini 7s has just been released in the US after being a success in Europe and Asia. This camera that reminds me of a toy camera in appearance, produces a print to enjoy in just a matter of minutes from when the image is taken. Basically just like the old Polaroid cameras use to do.

While the camera is said to be lightweight and compact, it is still bigger than any digital point-n-shoot digital camera in the stores. In fact the print it produces is more about the size of the credit card size compact digital cameras being sold. The good thing is though, no computer or printer is needed with the Mini 7s.

The Fuji Instax Mini 7s sells for around $90 and a film pack of 20 exposures will cost around $15. The Instax film is rated at ISO 800 and produces glossy, rich color prints.

It will be interesting to see if the Fuji Instax Mini 7s is able to survive in this digital world. Fuji claims it is "ideal for professional applications that require unalterable visual evidence or identification." Plus it should be fun for personal purposes too.
