It was thought that AJ Jewell's death was from being beaten to death in a fight. Now there is some possibility that Sickle Cell Anemia could have played a factor in his death.

The ex-fiance of Kandi Burress, star of "Real Housewives of Atlanta", died after getting into a fight outside a strip club. The fight occurred in the parking lot of the Atlanta strip club the Body Tap.

Jewell got into a fight with Federick Richardson on October 2nd. Jewell suffered head injuries during the fight and that was initially believed to be the cause of his death.

Now there is a chance that a blood disorder may have played a factor in Jewell's death. Fulton County Associate Medical Examiner, Dr. Kelly Rose has reportedly told several news organizations that the preliminary autopsy gives reason to believe that Jewell suffered from a blood disorder. Specifically a blood disorder that inhibits the oxygen flow to the tissues throughout the body. This has been reported as being Sickle Cell Anemia.

Rose is reported saying that this disorder could have prevented Jewell from being able to replenish the oxygen level throughout his body after the fight. This could have been a factor in his death.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Richardson claims that Jewell started the fight. Richardson claims that Jewell approached him and hit him twice first.

Richardson said that when he left the scene,Jewell was alive. Jewell died after being taken to Piedmont Hospital after the fight.

Richardson is in jail without bond and is charged with voluntary manslaughter. His next court appearance is October 20th.

The outcome of Richardson's case could be impacted by the final results of Jewell's autopsy. If Sickle Cell Anemia did play a factor in Jewell's death then it could become a key factor in Richardson's trial.
