Going into Friday's night game, the Los Angeles Dodgers were trailing the same team that kept them from the World Series last year. With two runs in the eighth inning, the Dodgers tied up the series against the Philadelphia Phillies with a 2-1 victory.

The Phillies had taken an one game lead in the National League Championship series on Thursday. The score in the first game was 8-6.

Game 2 was a pitching duel. Phillies' Pedro Martinez and Vicente Padilla of the Dodgers each were putting on a pitching exhibition. The only run that was allowed in the first seven innings was a home run by Phillies' Ryan Howard off of Padilla in the fourth.

Trailing going into the eighth, the Dodgers got two hits. The Dodgers tied the game off of an error by Phillies' second baseman, Chase Utley.

Utley tried to turn a double play, but threw the ball high and wide to first. This allowed the tying run to score.

After another Dodger hit and a walk the bases were loaded. Andre Ethier stepped up to bat for the Dodgers.

Ethier quickly got behind on the count. Being patient, Ethier earned a walk which brought the winning run in thrilling the fans in Dodgers Stadium.

The Dodgers and Phillies are tied at one game each in the best-of-seven series. They will play game 3 on Sunday in Philadelphia.
