Dante Wesley was ejected from the Carolina Panthers' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just before half-time. Wesley delivered a vicious blow to the Bus punt returner Clifton Smith.

Smith had signaled for a fair catch with just 10 seconds left in the half. Before the ball even made it to Smith, Wesley lunged his body into Smith.

Smith laid on the field while the players of the two teams began pushing and shoving for a couple of minutes. The referees did not call any penalties for the pushing and shoving.

They did call a penalty on Wesley and he was ejected from the game. More than likely, Wesley will also be paying a fine for the hit and rightfully so.

Smith did manage to walk off of the field, but missed the remainder of the game with a concussion. Hopefully Smith will be alright.

Tied at seven at half-time, both the Panthers and Bucs needed a win going into the game. Wesley's hit on Smith was a scary ending to a hard fought first half.
