There is no place like home. That must be the theme song for the Philadelphia Phillies after the Dodgers Phillies game 3 rout 11-0.
It did not take long for the Phillies to get on the board in a game that they would end up dominating. By the end of the first inning, the Phillies had scored four runs.
The Phillies were facing off against Dodgers' pitcher Hiroki Kuroda. During the last four times Kuroda had faced off against the Phillies, he had dominated them.
During game 3 of the National League Championship series, the story would be reversed. Sunday was Kuroda's first major league game back from a late season herniated disc in his neck. The Phillies were a different pain in the neck, dominating him at the plate.
Shane Victorino and Chase Utley each made it on base with a single in the first inning. They both scored off of a triple base hit by Ryan Howard.
With the RBI, Howard has hit an RBI in seven consecutive games this postseason. Prior to the first inning RBI, Howard was tied with three other players for longest single postseason record for consecutive games with an RBI.
Howard scored off of Jason Werth's two-run homer. This gave the Phillies a 4-0 lead.
During the second inning, the Phillies added two more runs to make it 6-0. In the fifth inning, they added two more to make the score 8-0. In the bottom of the eighth, Victorino hit a three-run homer for the final score of 11-0.
Phillies' pitcher Cliff Lee dominated the Dodgers' hitters. Lee pitched a solid eight innings. He started off the game by retiring 11 of the first 12 batters. Lee struck out 10 hitters and allowed only three hits.
The Dodgers won game 2 to tie the series at one game even. With the win in game 3, the Phillies now have a 2-1 lead. With two more home games, the Phillies could finish the series at home.
