Defense was the deciding factor in the Vikings vs Steelers matchup in Sunday's game at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field. The Steelers' defense scored more touchdowns than either offense.

The Minnesota Vikings entered the game undefeated for the season. That would change when the final second ticked off the clock of the Vikings vs Steelers game.

The Steelers scored the only points in the first quarter with a field goal. Jeff Reed kicked a 39 yard field goal with just 4 seconds left in the Vikings vs Steelers first quarter.

Minnesota's Adrian Peterson took the lead for the Vikings by running for a 2 yard touchdown. The Steelers struck back just before half-time with a 40 yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Mike Wallace; givng them a 10-7 lead. A couple of field goals were the only scoring in the third quarter. Reed kicked a 27 yard one for the Steelers. Minnesota's Ryan Longwell put an 18 yarder through the goal post. Going into the fourth quarter of the Vikings vs Steelers game, Steelers were up 13-10.

Defense and special teams ruled the decisive fourth quarter. Brett Farve drove the Vikings down the field into the red zone. It appeared that Favre was going to pull off another late game come from behind victory drive. Instead, Pittsburgh's defense stepped up and took control of the Vikings vs Steelers game.

Favre fumbled the ball. Steeler's LaMarr Woodley gathered the ball up and ran it back for a 77 yard touchdown. This gave the Steelers a 20-10 lead. Minnesota was not finished yet in the Vikings vs Steelers matchup.

Minnesota's Percy Harvin return the kickoff after the Steelers' score for an 88 yard touchdown. This tighten the score in the Vikings vs Steelers to 20-17.

With less than two minutes left, Favre drove the Vikings down the field again to the red zone. There would be no Favre magic in this Vikings vs Steelers game.

Favre was intercepted by Keyaron Fox. Who returned it for an 82 yard touchdown and the second Steelers' defensive touchdown in the game. This made the final Vikings vs Steelers score 27-17.

The Steelers' victory was their tenth straight at home. It gives them a 5-2 record for the season. The Vikings vs Steelers loss was the first in the season for Minnesota. The Vikings are now 6-1 going into Green Bay next week.
