Yankees vs Phillies Game 4 - 9th Inning Thriller

World Series game 4 of Yankees vs Phillies was a thriller to watch down to the ninth inning. When the final pitch was thrown Sunday night, the Yankees held a 3-1 game lead with a 7-4 win.

The hitting started early in the game for both teams. The Yankees took a 2-1 lead in the first inning.

During the first inning, Alex Rodriguez was hit by a pitch. This was the third time Rodriguez had been hit by a pitch in just two games.

The Phillies tied the game in the fourth inning on what ended up being a missed play. Pedro Feliz singled into left field. Yankees catcher Jorge Posada could not handle the throw from Johnny Damon.

Ryan Howard was called safe at home. TV replay showed that Howard never touch the plate. The Yankees did not realize Howard had missed the plate and did not touch the plate with the ball. So the play stood as called and the Phillies tied the game 2-2.

The Yankees struck back in the fifth inning. They scored two more runs to make their lead be 4-2.

Chase Utley and Pedro Feliz each hit a home run for the Phillies respectfully in seventh and eighth innings. This tied the score 4-4 going into the ninth inning.

The Yankees were at bat in the top of the ninth. They had two outs when Johnny Damon stepped up to bat.

Damon got on first base with a single. He then stole second with a pop-up slide.

Damon realized there was no one covering third and he proceeded to steal third. Damon stole second and third all in one play.

He scored the go-ahead run off of Rodriguez's double. The Yankees added two more runs to make the final score 7-4.

Game 5 of the Yankees vs Phillies will be Monday night in Philadelphia. The Phillies have a tough battle. Only six other times has a team came back from being three games down. If the Yankees win it will be their 27th World Series Championship.
