The not so lovable, lovable grouch who lives in a trash can on Sesame Street is the fourth character to grace the Sesame Street Google doodle. Click on the names below to see the three previous doodles.
Oscar is known for being grouchy and loves yelling at people to leave him alone. He really does not like the kids playing in front of his trash can, but they do give him something to yell about.
The trash can he lives in can hold a landfill of junk. Oscar loves to collect junk.
Unlike most people, Oscar loves rainy days. He also loves anchovy milkshakes.
If it is nice or sweet then Oscar does not like it. When he is miserable, Oscar is actually the happiest.
A grumpy waiter at the New York restaurant Oscar's Tavern was the inspiration for Oscar. He was so grouchy, he actually entertained Sesame Street creator Jim Henson and director Jon Stone.
Oscar grouchy attitude helps to teach kids to respect and tolerate others that are different than them. Like the grumpy waiter, Oscar is so grouchy he is lovable.
Google's doodle of the famous grouch coming out of his trash can is also lovable. If you do not think so, well as Oscar would say (actually yell) "scram!"
