NASA has announced that they have discovered water on the Moon. The creative minds at Google had to celebrate this news with a special Google doodle for the discovery of water on the Moon
Last month, NASA deliberately crashed a rocket into a crater on the Moon. You can read more about the LCROSS mission here.
After studying the images from the mission, it was clear to NASA that they had indeed discovered water on the Moon. NASA made the announcement of the discovery yesterday.
Google's creative team went to work on creating a special logo in honor of this discovery. Google calls their special logos "doodles."
The special Google discovery of water on the Moon doodle shows the Google logo in outer space. One of the O's is the Moon.
Just like the LCROSS mission, there is a rocket crashing into the Moon. If you click on the doodle, you will be taken to a search page for news results of water on the Moon.
Google's creative team has been busy recently with special doodles. They celebrated Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary with a whole week of special doodles.
They also created a special doodle to honor Veteran's Day. Now, Google is honoring the discovery of water on the Moon with a special doodle.
