Demi Moore Photoshop Controversy On W Cover

On the December issue of the W Magazine is an image of actress Demi Moore. The problem that is causing the Demi Moore photoshop contrversy is the photoshop job on the image is simply terrible.

It is common practice for the stars and models to be airbrushed and retouched in photoshop for magazine covers and ads. Occasionally, companies or magazines go a bit too far with their photoshop magic.

In fact recently, Ralph Lauren was caught in another bad photoshop job on one of their ads. The ad featured model Filippa Hamilton extremely distorted through photoshop manipulation.

On the W cover, Demi Moore's left hip has been over photoshopped. It has been done to the point that her hip does not line up with her thigh.

Demi Moore is known for her great body and being in shape. It is not known why it was felt this much photoshop was needed on her hip.

The Demi Moore photoshop controversy over the W cover brings up the debate about the common practice of magazines and adverstisement companies should be photoshopped as much as they do. Many feel they are sending out the wrong message to young women and teens.

Professional photographer Rhonda Lester, CPP gave her analysis of the poorly done photoshop job; "The puzzling part to me is why make this change in the first place?" Lester continues, "My goal when retouching is to enhance what's real, not create a false illusion."

Some has speculated that this is a PR trick. Demi Moore's most recent movie "The Joneses" was premiered back in September at the Toronto Film Festival.

Regardless of why the magazine elected to do such drastic photoshop, it clearly was one of the worst photoshop jobs that has been published. The photoshop that was done on the whole image makes the image not even resemble Demi Moore.

Conde' Nast publishes W Magazine. After this Demi Moore photoshop conroversy, this poor job of photoshop can only be labeled photoshop abuse.
