Snoopy Serves Up Google Thanksgiving Doodle

Google is celebrating Thanksgiving Day with another special logo. On this year's Thanksgiving Day doodle, Snoopy and his pal Woodstock are serving up a Thanksgiving feast.

Occasionally, the creative staff at Google will honor or celebrate someone special or a special event with specially designed logos. Google refers to these logos as doodles.

The lovable Snoopy is featured on the Google Thanksgiving doodle today. Decked out in his chef's hat and apron, Snoopy has fixed a turkey and a pie with his friend Woodstock.

Snoopy and Woodstock are characters of the famous cartoon, Peanuts. Created by Charles Schulz, Charlie Brown and the other characters of Peanuts have become a favorite comic strip and holiday tradition.

The Peanuts comic strip was first printed in the newspaper on October 2, 1950. Snoopy and the Peanuts crew will celebrate the comic strip's 60th anniversary in 2010.

New Peanuts comic strips were printed in the newspaper daily until February 13, 2000; the day after Schulz passed away. Schulz died of colon cancer.

A beagle dog, Snoopy has become one of the favorite Peanuts characters. Highly recognizable, Snoopy can be found on a variety of products and even flying high during Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Snoopy first appeared in the Peanuts comic strip on October 4, 1950. His owner Charlie Brown is the comic strip's main character. Snoopy is known for sleeping on the roof of his doghouse.

Over the years, his character has developed into a multitude of characters. Snoopy is able to become any character in the snap of a finger, or paw. Two of Snoopy's most famous characters are a World War I flying ace and Joe Cool himself.

Many consider Snoopy's best pal, Woodstock's debut in the Peanuts' comic strip to be in 1967. That was when a bird resembling Woodstock first started appearing.

On June 22, 1970, Woodstock became a full-fledged Peanuts character and received his name. Yes, Schulz did name Woodstock after the rock festival.

Snoopy, Woodstock and the rest of the Peanuts crew will be staring in Charlie Brown Thanksgiving tonight at 8 pm on ABC. Since 1973, Charlie Brown has served up a Thanksgiving meal for his friends.

Unlike Snoopy's Google Thanksgiving feast, Charlie Brown serves his friends popcorn and toast. ABC is also airing This is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers.

For many, Thanksgiving would not be the same without turkey and watching Snoopy, Woodstock and the rest of the Peanuts gang. In the Google Thanksgiving Day doodle, Snoopy and Woodstock are ready to serve the turkey.
