
The brackets have been announced for the NCAA Volleyball Championship 2009. This is the 29th women's collegiate volleyball tournament.
Divided into four regions, the NCAA Volleyball Championship 2009 has 64 of the best women's volleyball teams in the nation. The 64 teams are comprised of 31 teams that received conference automatic qualification. The rest of the 33 teams were filled at-large selections.
Undefeated Penn State is the number one seed for the tournament. The University of Texas at Austin is number two. Florida State and Stanford are third and fourth seeds.
Of the 64 teams, eight teams are from the Pac 10 conference. Both the Big Ten and Big 12 conferences have six teams, while the ACC has five teams.
Penn State and Stanford have been in all of the NCAA Volleyball Championship tournaments. Penn State is also the two-time defending champions.
The 1st and 2nd rounds will be played December 3rd through the 6th at 16 campus sites. Those advancing to the regionals will play December 11-12th at the four regional locations.
The semi-finals games and championship game will be played December 17-19th. These games will be played at the St Pete Times Forum in Tampa Bay, Florida.
The winners of the first round will move onto the second round. The teams that win their second round game will move on to the regionals. Here is a breakdown of the match-ups to start off the NCAA Volleyball Championship 2009 tournament.
