Zhu Zhu Hamsters Found To Have Toxic Chemical

The Zhu Zhu Hamsters are one of the hottest products this Christmas season. Shoppers are having a hard time finding them on the shelves. A new report about the Zhu Zhu Hamsters having a toxic chemical in them may change the demand for them.

The consumer group Good Guide has released their review of the Zhu Zhu Hamsters. They found a high level of the toxic chemical Antimony in them.

Good Guide is a consumer watch group that evaluates products for varies things including health related issues. They are located in California. The findings of Good Guide's review can be found on their website.

Good Guide found that the Zhu Zhu Hamsters had 93 parts per million of Antimony in their fur. They also had 103 parts per million in their nose. The federal limit for Antimony is only 60 parts per million.

Antimony may be linked to health issues including cancer, lung related illnesses and heart problems. The danger is when large doses are ingested. This can occur when the child puts the toy into their mouth or even touches the toy and then puts their fingers into their mouths.

Good Guide also found that Zhu Zhu Hamsters also contained Tin. It has been found that Tin can be harmful to both the immune and nervous systems.

Zhu Zhu Hamsters are manufactured in China for Cepia llc. The company is located in St. Louis.

At this time, there has been no official recall of the Zhu Zhu Hamsters due to the finding of the toxic chemicals. If you have one, it is being suggested to call the company or return the item to the store where it was purchased.
