Procter and Gamble is recalling over 700,000 packages of Vicks DayQuil Cold and Flu 24 count liquicaps. The voluntary recall is due to the blister packs do not have the child-resistant backing as labeled on the box.
The Vicks DayQuil packs that are being recalled were sold only in the US. They have been sold since September 2008.
The medicine in the box is fine to use. Without the child-resistant packaging, children could get into the DayQuil packs and accidentally ingest them.
No reports of accidental ingestions by children have been reported. Vicks DayQuil is not intend for children under 12.
P&G recommends that if anyone wishes to continue taking the recalled Vicks DayQuil, they should take extra care so children can not get into the medication. Those wishing to receive a refund or replacement coupon can call P&G at 1-800-251-3374.
This is the second recall for Vicks products in a month. In November, P&G recalled Vicks Sinex nasal spray due to bacteria.
