Sony has unveiled their latest digital camera in the Alpha line at the CES 2010 show. The Sony A-450 digital camera is latest digital camera for the entry-level DSLR photographers.
The Sony A-450 digital camera has the 14.2 MP (effective) Exmor CMOS sensor and the BIONZ processor. The BIONZ processor helps with noise on images taken in the higher ISO ranges in low light. The ISO range for the Sony A-450 is 200-12800.
The Sony A-450 does have a pop up flash that can be used to add light in low light situations. The new digital camera will also accept the Sony flash units that are available.
The BIONZ processor also allows the Sony A-450 to take five frames per second and seven frames per second in priority mode for fast continuous shooting. This feature will help those photographers that want to capture their favorite sporting events actions, such as their kid on the ball field.
On the back of the Sony A-450 is a 2.7” LD screen to view images. There are slots for both Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo and SD/SDHC memory cards built into the digital camera.
The Auto HDR mode on the Sony A-450 allows for the photographer to create a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image inside the digital camera without using a computer. This feature basically creates one image from two different exposures to give better detail in the shadow areas of the image and the bright areas.
The Sony A-450 is compatible with Sony Alpha lenses and the Minolta/Konica Minolta AF lenses and is expected to be available in February 2010. Price is expected to be under $1,000 for this entry-level digital camera, which will put it in competition with the Canon Rebels and Nikon D-3000 cameras. Samsung announced earlier at CES their new NX10 digital camera. CES 2010 is just getting started, so we will see what other digital cameras are unveiled.
