Australian Open 2010: Federer Advances With Victory Over Montanes

Through the first two rounds of the Australian Open 2010, Roger Federer has made it look easy. That continued in the third round as the world number one player defeated the number Albert Montanes, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Federer took only 118 minutes to defeat Montanes. As with his earlier matches in the 2010 Australian Open, Federer was in complete control of the match.

Only once in the second set did Federer show any signs of frustration at his play. That did not last very long as he went on to finish the set 6-4 with powerful play.

In their two earlier meetings Federer had defeated Montanes. In their match during the third round of the Australian Open, Federer made it three victories over Montanes.

Now Federer will prepare to face Lleyton Hewitt in the fourth round. Playing in his home country, Hewitt played in the Hopman Cup earlier this month to prepare for the Australian Open 2010. Now the former number one will face the current number one tennis player in the first Grand Slam of the year.
