Pamela Gien, author of THE SYRINGA TREE and playwright of the Studio Arena production of the same name, will be in Buffalo for two exclusive book signings on Wednesday, January 24, 2007.
THE SYRINGA TREE is based on Gien's life growing up in South Africa in the 1960s when apartheid governed the country. Gien's story is a glimpse into history which explores a time when racial laws touched every aspect of social life. Spanning through four generations of oppression and violence the story depicts the evolution of South Africans regaining their human rights over time.
Gien's illustration of this era in THE SYRINGA TREE earned her an OBIE Award for Best Play. She is also the recipient of the Drama-Logue Award for Outstanding Achievement in Theatre. Her television appearances include guest starring roles in Tales from the Crypt, Reasonable Doubts, Hunter, Secret Lives and Into Thin Air. Her film credits include Men Seeking Women and The Last Supper.
FOR ONE DAY ONLY, Gien will be signing copies of her book recently published by Random House, at:
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 1565 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Amherst, New York
and
Time: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Studio Arena Theatre, 710 Main Street, Buffalo, New York
