Long-time Valley favorite, Michael Feinstein continues with his new series "Feinstein's at the McCallum" with Christine Andreas for an evening of great duet and solo performances at the McCallum Theatre on Friday, February 9 at 8pm.
Feinstein & Andreas have only sung together once at a Gershwin concert, but her extraordinary success in New York cabaret and beyond has led her to Feinstein's at the McCallum.
"I wanted to create a similar West Coast bastion simply because what was happening in New York was so exciting," Feinstein said of the series. "I wanted to try and take it to another level, but try and create that same synergy in another space."
Best known for her work on the Broadway stage, Ms. Andreas burst onto the New York theatre scene starring as Eliza Doolittle in the 20th Anniversary production of "My Fair Lady" opposite the Royal Shakespeare Company's Ian Richardson and garnering the Theatre World Award. While best known from Broadway, the accomplished actress, singer and performer has been welcomed by audiences far and wide for her work onstage, on television and in the studio. Her recent engagements at the Café Carlyle and the Algonquin's Oak Room prompted the New York Times to extol: "The Carlyle has selected the most obvious candidate from the next generation of Broadway sopranos"Â"¦"ÂShe delicately kills with the sheer beauty of her voice "Â"¦"ÂShe finds a blend of lyricism and sweet sensuality that only the finest Broadway voices can conjure." And her Carnegie Hall debut was hailed as 'brilliant,' 'delicious' and 'sexy' in Variety.
No contemporary artist captures the essence of popular music like Michael Feinstein, "America's Ambassador of Song." A pop vocalist, composer and arranger, the Grammy-nominated Feinstein has released twenty diverse albums, sold out shows worldwide and played for three Presidents at the White House, as well as England's Queen Mother.
While he continues to be the entertainer who best embodies the richness of big band, jazz and pop music, Feinstein also moves in another dimension by infusing his current projects with modern elements that make them uniquely progressive and sophisticated. Another side of Michael Feinstein is apparent in his club, Feinstein's at the Regency, a Manhattan showcase for the greatest singers and cabaret performers.
"I don't think there will be any artistic experience that will surpass it in the near future," Feinstein said of the series. "Each program will be different and will evolve as we work through songs we want to sing individually and together"¦The McCallum itself is a jewel box in that there is a connection with the audience that can be lost in a larger space. Every theatre has its own energy that is a sum of its ingredients, tangible and intangible, and the McCallum is a very gratifying place for a performer to be."Â
Don't miss this opportunity to catch Michael Feinstein & Christine Andreas in their full-length show together as they perform their favorite duets and solos as a part of the series, Feinstein's at the McCallum.
