Census Reports 1 in 5 Baltimore Residents Live Below Poverty

The 2008 Census reports 19 percent of Baltimore City residents live below poverty level.

After the 2008 Census reported that the state of Maryland was the richest in the nation, one in five residents in the city of Baltimore were living below the federal poverty level.

Nearly 19 percent lived in poverty while the national average living below the federal poverty level was 13 percent.
