Today, the Ohio Department of Insurance revealed a growing home insurance cost in Ohio. The cost is much associated with auto, health and home insurance. The biggest increase in the state is for homeowners, and moderate increases up to 7 percent in auto and medical premiums. Much of this spike is attributed to the weather related costs and the rising medical expenses. Say so the insurance professionals.
Health care insurance is still in the middle of Congressional debate. And some law makers vigorously try to pass the major health reform bill. The bill comes after health care cost were sharply on the rise since year 2005. Much of the promises to fix health benefits would dispense some of the major home insurance players in Ohio.
All the reports indicate that most vulnerable in this ever rising insurance cost is small business owners who do not participate in large plans and do not have much choice. Small business will be bear burden of all auto, health care and home insurance in Ohio and statewide. With economy already hitting hard small business in Ohio, insurance cost could determine survival of the average Joes.
Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson noted that in the Ohio home insurance costs are still competitive in the nation. Arguably released information by State Farm did not change much of their premiums, but homeowners felt steep rise around 13%.
It is unclear what the Congressional debates going to produce. Rising trends in the insurance are noted in the Ohio and everywhere in US. Is that going to be major factor in changing culture of homeownership, decline in car sales and less health insurance for those who not able to afford it.
