English National Opera Wins 5 Awards

English National Opera has capped an outstanding artistic year in 2006 by winning 5 Olivier Award nominations for opera. The UK's most prestigious awards for theatre and lyric theatre, ENO has won 13 of the 16 nominations in 2005 and 2006.

In 2005, ENO's Madam Butterfly, directed by Anthony Minghella, won the Olivier for Best New Opera Production. ENO's production opened the Metropolitan Opera House, New York's 06-07 season.

English National Opera's ORFEO at the London Coliseum

Outstanding Achievement In Opera

John Mark Ainsley for his performance in English National Opera's ORFEO at the London Coliseum

Amanda Roocroft for her performance in English National Opera's JENŮFA at the London Coliseum

The Laurence Olivier Awards, the highlight of the London theatre year, will be announced during a star-studded ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 18 February, 2007. -- www.eno.org
