Annie Le, a pharmacology student at Yale, was to be married Sunday. Yale Vice President and Secretary Linda Lorimer said there was "no reason to believe that whatsoever" that Le ran away to avoid marriage. According to several reports on various media outlets her fiance, Jonathan Widawsky, has not heard from her.
Over 100 members of law enforcement from the Yale Police Department, the New Haven Police Department, Connecticut State Police and the FBI are working the case. Yale University is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information leading to Annie Le.
Ironically, Annie Le wrote an article earlier this year for a Yale magazine about safety around the university's campus, according to the Associated Press. The article was titled "Crime and Safety in New Haven" and Le compared higher instances of robbery in New Haven to other cities with Ivy League schools.
"In short, New Haven is a city and all cities have their perils," Le wrote. "But with a little street smarts, one can avoid become yet another statistic."
