Is Roger Federer following in Serena William's footsteps by cursing at an official at the US Open 2009 Men's Final? The match was heating up, with a score of 4-4, when he began talking back to the umpire. Overheard by anyone paying attention to this tense game was Federer grumbling, "Don't tell me to be quiet, when I want to talk I'll talk."
It wasn't clear whether it was the umpire or Del Potro who Federer lashed out at, but it is believed that Federer was set off by the umpire who told Federer to 'be quiet'.
Federer pouting over the challenge system isn't uncharacteristic. It historically makes him a bit snippy. Federer was upset during the US Open Men's Final at what looks to be illegal coaching. Del Porto was allowed to weigh in too long on a call.
Clearly Federer is under pressure. His audible "I don't give a shit" was enough to get social media talking immediately. Twitter was streaming with comments on Federer and comparing his outcry to that of Serena Williams. The US Open has been quite interesting with all the cussing and incredibly close games.
Is a $10,000 fine in the future for Roger Federer, even if he does win the US Open 2009 Men's Final?
