The premier of The Biggest Loser featured stories about each contestant; some were heart breaking. One of the members cast for the show, Abby, lost both her husband and child in a car accident. This may have attributed to her massive weight problem but despite the emotional support given from her team mates, Jillian reminded everyone not to use the emotional card when trying to lose weight. It is clear that these severely overweight cast members are going to need more motivation than ever from Jillian and Bob.
This season of The Biggest Loser is named "Second Chances" and will feature contestants who have experienced a tragedy or loss in their lives. Their weight spiraled out of control as a result. The season will also feature Daniel Wright who was contestant last season who started out at 454 pounds before being sent home early on in Season 7. He's back for more after losing 142 pounds on his own.
The Biggest Loser is also currently casting for season 9, in which it will go back to the family format. The ninth season will premiere early next year and will feature varying family relationships.
The first to go home on The Biggest Loser's premier show was Alexandra. Everyone felt that she had enough motivation to keep her weight loss going at home. Sure enough, Alexandra has lost 60 lbs since she has been home and plans to lose about another 60 before the finale. She reported that she is pushing her Mom to join her weight loss effort. It seems that she learned a lot in her first week on The Biggest Loser.
Next Episode of the Biggest Loser Season 8 will be on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 8/7c on NBC.
