Did Rush Limbaugh Suggest Segregation?

Rush Limbaugh got in on a hot topic that is likely to have people once again discussing the race issue with strong opinions. On Tuesday, conservative Rush Limbaugh's show focused on segregation. Or did it? It was likely he was trying to make a point about the incident in which a white student was beaten by black students on a school bus. However, his words were not exactly filled with tact. Nothing new.

On Limbaugh's show Tuesday, a woman caller called Rush Limbaugh to discuss the beating of white student by black students. His response?

“I think the guy’s wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here today. Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses — it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama’s America.”

The words segregated buses in the same sentences started some heavy conversations on the Internet about Rush Limbaugh, both pro and con. Mostly, people seemed puzzled as to what they should think.

Was it a racist incident or was it a bunch of kids beating up on one child? Did he just happen to be white and the boys who beat him up just happen to be black? Kids beating each other up is sadly something that is done daily on so many school buses. It's hard to say if these children are just looking to pick a fight or started out their day wondering if they should beat up a child of a different race. My thoughts are 'not likely' but once the video and story gets run to the point of exhaustion, the opinions start flying.

When the fire is fueled by Rush Limbaugh, it can get out of control. Just using the words "segregated busing" was a really bad move on Limbaugh's part, but that's why he is controversial. He eggs people on and gets them thinking, whether we like him or not.

“In Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering, ‘Yay, right on, right on, right on, right on,” Limbaugh also said. “I wonder if Obama’s going to come to come to the defense of the assailants the way he did his friend Skip Gates up there at Harvard.”

Yet another crazy comparison by Limbaugh. Comparing school bullies, whatever their race, to a Harvard professor, whatever the story is about him, is just senseless babble on the part of Limbaugh.

However, the whole use of the word segregation took away from the fact that the fact that the racism card may be in use more frequently than it needs to be. Stories get blown out of proportion once someone injects words that are going to make the basic issue of bullying turn into a topic with racial tension.

Bottom line, Rush Limbaugh is never going to shut his mouth. He is always going to say something controversial, like "we need segregated buses" to get people talking. That is how he makes money. Personally, I think his comments are worthy of having someone wash his mouth out with soap but that's just one opinion.
