Last night on "VH1 Divas", Paula Abdul had some fun imitating her replacement on American Idol, Ellen DeGeneres. Abdul dressed up in Ellen's typical Keds and suit jacket and put on a blonde shag wig. With good humor, she danced, posing as Ellen, then wished Ellen the best of luck with "American Idol."
Abdul was taking over the hosting duties of the VH1 Divas Live concert last night when she decided to poke fun at her “American Idol” replacement Ellen DeGeneres. Abdul stated, “All kidding aside, [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig.”
She even offered to help the new “Idol” judge. Abdul added, “And call me! You gotta call me if you have any Simon problems, ‘cause you know, I know him best.”
DeGeneres is an great replacement choice for Abdul and her humor will be a welcome addition to the panel of Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi.
"I'm thrilled to be the new judge on 'American Idol.' I've watched the show since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan," said DeGeneres. "So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote!" she joked in a Fox press release.
Paula Abdul's impersonation of Ellen on VH1 Divas is surely going to bring even more attention to the public who, for the most part, seem to be happily endorsing Ellen as a new judge on Idol. American Idol will premiere on FOX in January 2010.
