Tonight two stars had to hang up their dancing shoes and go home on the third night of Dancing with the Stars, Season 9. In this season's first elimination ceremony, it was not a huge disappointment to see Macy Gray and Ashley Hamilton go. Hamilton had absolutely no personality (surprisingly he didn't get his father's genes) and Macy Gray...well, enough said. She was unique.
There were a few stars who may have qualified for the farewell dance tonight; none of them would have been a surprise. In fact, with such a large cast of stars, the process of elimination is not that hard. Especially with the likes of Tom DeLay trying to squash his conservative image with his non-impressive ChaCha Monday night. Why he is still on for another week is completely beyond the comprehension of many who watch Dancing With the Stars.
In the midst of the dancing and upcoming eliminations, viewers were treated to the world premiere of Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA" video. It was indeed a highlight of the show if you are nine years old.
Fortunately, there was a great segment with the cast of "The Lion King" as part of the Macy's Stars of Dance performance. The costumes were fantastic and it was a welcome diversion from some of the mediocre dancing.
Overall, it seemed as if the women were the dancing stars tonight and the men needed to pick up the pace a little. Next week there will be another elimination ceremony on Dancing with the Stars and it's hard to tell who will get voted off. There are a few to pick from based on tonight's performance.
Here are the final scores for the third night of Dancing With the Stars.
Joanna Krupa & Derek Hough: 34
Kelly Osbourne & Louie van Amstel: 31
Mya & Dmitry Chapiin: 31
Natalie Coughlin & Alec Mazo: 27
Melissa Joan Hart & Mark Ballas: 24
Debi Mazar & Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 22
Kathy Ireland & Tony Dovolani: 20
Macy Gray & Jonathan Roberts: 19
