RIM BlackBerry Software for Mac may Arrive September 25

Updated BlackBerry Desktop Software for the Mac OS is supposedly coming to Mac this month. Research in Motion (RIM) revealed the details about the Mac version of its desktop software today but did not give a specific release date. It's almost the end of September, so if the rumors are correct the release should be out in the next few days.

With the new RIM BlackBerry Desktop Software you will be able sync your iTunes playlists and personal information like contacts, tasks and appointments. You will also be able to install new software, games, and more. Mac users will appreciate the ability to manage all aspects of their BlackBerry smartphone from their Mac.

RIM has added several new features to the software, including the ability to sync BlackBerry smartphones with multiple computers. You will be able to sync the device with your work and home computers by changing the setting to "Safer Sync."

BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac will also have a built-in media manager. This upgraded feature will remove all the media files added to your device via BlackBerry Desktop Software, but leaves any other manually added music intact.

Syncing with your computer is an important Blackberry feature. With the new new software for Mac, users will be able to sync their Blackberry with Apple's iCal application, address book, Apple mail and any other software that communicates with Apple's Sync Services, including Microsoft Entourage.

All of these features sound great for the MAC user, but the uncertainty of when is another issue. The word in the tech world is that the release will happen on Friday, September 25. RIM will be sending out the update to those who have provided their email address/
