Michael Vick, quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, is rehabilitating his image after serving 18 months in federal prison. Vick has signed a deal with Nike again and is looking forward to renewing his relationship with them.
Vick signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on August 13 and was fully reinstated September 3. Vick signed a $1.6 million deal with the Eagles, with a team option for the second year at $5.2 million.
Michael Vick signed on with Nike as a rookie in 2001. They terminated his contract in August 2007 when Vick, then with the Atlanta Falcons, filed a plea agreement admitting his involvement in the dog fighting ring. Nike then halted release of his fifth signature shoe, the Air Zoom Vick V.
Vick could certainly use this contract with Nike. In July, Vick filed for bankruptcy protection while serving his sentence, saying he owed between $10 million and $50 million to creditors.
There has not been a outpouring of protest over Vick being back in the NFL after his prison sentence, but it's likely he won't be getting the million dollar contracts he had when he was a star with the Falcons.
Michael Vick's agent, Joel Segal, has not disclosed the amount of the contract made with Nike.
